Autosave for all form related input data is even more relevant when OAuth etc. fails...

Maybe have a look at "Gitlab", use existign form validation and think about regular pushing or similar to achive optimal user experience.

(Additional) Local storage also might be a good, layered solution in combination with an indicator if Autosaving does not work to help avoid data loss.
